Exhibition title “Fragments” is derived from the Latin word meaning “broken piece”, which represents crumbs and scraps.
First, we can imagine “Fragments” that is a situation in which they occur in everyday life when objects are broken and scattered, and is always born with the act of destruction. In other cases, they point to new objects extracted partially from the whole of invisible abstract thing such as a memory, or reconstructed by connecting several parts.
In any time and occasions, the “reconstruction” is being carried out from “fragments” released by the “destruction”.
Even the spread of new media, commencing with the Internet, which has developed rapidly since the early 21st century, we create a world that we could not imagine a few years ago due to change parts of the whole medium and framework, and to repeat a destroy and a rebuild, with some problems. For example, in the field of art, according to recall a variety of visions from each works signify a fragmentary object created by condensing a huge amount of ideas, a different overall picture will be made.
In art scenes, fragments of images are linked, and brand-new images originated by the loop of the breaking and the reassembly will become an important medium that forms the whole art.
In this exhibition, we capture a variety of expression styles of selected artists, and images and world-views weaved from the inside of individuals as the “Fragments” of the changing era in modern society.
